UNIFlow Implementation by C2N Diagnostics
C2N Diagnostics was founded in late 2007 based on stable isotope labeling kinetics (SILK) technology developed by Drs. Randy Bateman and David Holtzman at Washington University in Saint Louis. The SILK technology allows measurement of metabolism of proteins in the brain and has been applied to measuring metabolism of amyloid beta in the brain – SILK-Aβ™.
As C2N was founded there were already several pharmaceutical companies interested in utilizing the SILK assay in their clinical trials. Thus, C2N Diagnostics needed a solution for tracking samples and data that could be implemented quickly. To meet this goal C2N evaluated several software solutions and decided to use the UNIFlow system. With the UNIFlow system, C2N Diagnostics was able to have a fully functional laboratory information management system setup in less than 3 months. The UNIFlow system automatically provides audit trails and the genealogy origin of the software makes it easy to associate data with samples.
C2N has used UNIFlow for over 3 years and had been validating new features as they were developed. UNIFlow comes with an automatic validation module, which allows the UNIFlow, engineer to record and play back user interactions with the system. The Validator™ module allows us to run through a full workflow automatically after changes are made to the LIMS to make sure that changes to the system are not breaking the core functions.
